SCHOOL PHILOSOPHY
|
GOAL
|
The term HSIN FA means "to directly know something through the direct experience of it". This idea is core to the philosophy of my school and how I teach. All the different branches of the Hsin Fa school are transmitted thru direct hands-on teaching for the purpose of getting to the root of the knowledge being taught.
I have stated many times in my career as a herbalist that there is no difference between a herb school and a kung fu school. My 45 years experience in the martial and healing arts have taught me that the character development found in traditional kung fu training creates a foundation of ethical, spiritual discipline, intention and moral principles that are very important in the healing arts. I feel that this foundation is lacking in our society and that traditional martial arts serves as a bridge between the various disciplines I teach. My school teaches and requires a strong work ethic, sacrifice and martial intensity. This allows students and graduates to have a solid foundation that is practical, theoretical and applicable. |
The goal of the school is to turn out quality community-based herbalists. The Hsin Fa school offers training in herbalism, medical qi gung and kung fu. The intention is to have students develop the skill sets necessary to be competitive in today's challenging health care market. My goal is to provide direct transmission of authentic, practical and clinically effective methods, that lead to competent and skilled practitioners. The emphasis on martial lifestyle, spirituality and philosophy teaches an attitude of self-reliance, discipline, and courage - all attributes I feel students need to have in order to be successful in the healing arts and life.
